Are you struggling to get submissions in training and competition? Then you need to read this!

Not being able to count on having a solid submission in your back pocket can be frustrating. Chances are, you focusing on scoring points to win, whether it be take downs, sweeps or guard passes.

That's okay, but it's not that satisfying to fail at submissions. I have been there, focusing on grinding out every match by take downs and guard passes is not nearly as fun.

Especially when you are up against someone who is difficult to score on, and you have to hope you get an advantage and squeak out a decision win

You might watch others that score submissions often and wonder what you are missing. Or worse, you make excuses for yourself as to why you cannot do that.

But to be blunt, that a big pile of horse manure.

The truth is that you just haven't learned a good submission system. You might have a good submission in your game, like a heel hook as I did, but with just one-off moves you can't find ways to get into it often.

Want to know the secret to being a submission machine?

It's simple - you need a systematic approach to attacking that leads you into strong positions that allow you to hit your favorite submissions.

It has to be something that is easy to control, and that you can ideally setup any time you like.

Enter the Kimura Trap System

The Kimura Trap System is a step-by-step attack and counter series that will show you how to get a Kimura from EVERY position in combat. While most people think of the Kimura just as a submission, it doubles as the most powerful grip in the martial arts. This gives you total control of your opponent, allowing you to score take downs, sweeps, reversals, guard passes, move into dominant positions, and transition into other submissions. Whether you are standing or on the ground, top or bottom, attacker or defender, there is a Kimura Trap at your disposal!

Submission Hunter

No longer will you have to grind your way to victory and play the points game. with the Kimura Trap System in your arsenal, you will find submissions from any position attacking any joint or choke you choose.

Transition Mastery

One of the most powerful benefits of the Kimura Trap System is learning how to transition from position to submission and vice versa. There are so many different ways you can get into and out of the Kimura Trap System, so whether you are a top player or a bottom player, you will have a myriad of ways to smoothly move in and out of it. What other's see as lucky scrambles, you will know as carefully orchestrated sequences within the Kimura Trap System.

The Ultimate Wrestling Killer

One of the favorite aspects of the Kimura Trap System from the many followers is it's ability to counter wrestling. Shots, body locks and the like can be countered with the Kimura Trap System, allowing you to sweep, throw, and ultimately submit anyone who tries to take you down.

A System That Works For Everyone

Some techniques require a high degree of flexibility, speed, strength, or are suited for particular body types to pull off. With the Kimura Trap System, there are no limitations. It works for all ages, sizes, and games. Whether you are young, short and stocky wrestler, or an old, long and lanky guard player, there are many ways to implement the Kimura Trap System.

Here’s what coaches are saying about the course

David has traveled all across the world, teaching the Kimura Trap System in seminars at martial arts academies. Here are just what some of the school owners who hosted David had to say about his instruction of the Kimura Trap System.

Justin Garcia

ADCC Competitor

Black Belt Instructor

“I have at least 20, 25, maybe even 30 students following this system.”

“…The beauty is in the system that Master David designed and within one seminar, I believe the seminar was 2-3 hours long, I have at least 20, 25, maybe even 30 students following this system. I have guys pulling off Kimuras in tournaments, guys pulling them off in training, guys getting a lot of confidence in areas they didn’t otherwise have. You guys know David Avellan – he is one of the world’s best and his Kimura Trap series is in line with the caliber that we are used to…He is an awesome instructor, very articulate and very passionate about what he teaches and his Kimura Trap series is no different.”

Patrick Kelly

Black Belt Instructor

“Amazing seminar! Basically, a game changer.”

“I just got done with David Avellan’s seminar, The Kimura Trap. Amazing seminar! Basically, a game changer. If you are having trouble finishing the kimura, trouble setting up the kimura, or having trouble defending takedowns, this is the system that will improve your game and have you catching kimuras from all different angles, have you defending takedowns, taking people’s back and finishing with a one arm choke. Overall the system is amazing. I definitely suggest you check out the system.”

Brad Daddis

Black belt Instructor

“He put together a system that after showing my students, even white belts, for one day with the Kimura Trap and they are hitting it in local tournaments.”

“We were fortunate enough to have David Avellan do a seminar and just give us a little brief sample of the Kimura Trap. One of the coolest parts about the Kimura Trap is that its a system. As a BJJ black belt, sometimes we think we know everything, but we don’t. David is an innovator. He put together a system that after showing my students, even white belts, for one day with the Kimura Trap and they are hitting it in local tournaments. And guys simply don’t know how to defend against it.It has never been seen before. There is a counter to everything. Everything David has on there, if somebody tries to counter what you are doing, there is a counter to the counter.”

Here is a quick peek at what to expect

The Kimura Trap System has over 60 techniques covered. We can categorize them into 6 modules:

1

Module 1: Kimura Fundamentals

Before you can learn the Kimura Trap, you need to fully understand the Kimura. This part blows people's minds, from white belt to black belt. I can't tell you how many black belts and top fighters were completely clueless on the important details that make the Kimura such a powerful submission hold.

People often think that basic moves are easy and don't require much study - that couldn't be further from the truth! Basic moves are so powerful, that even just a low level understanding allows it be effective. When you have the high level understanding you gain from this module, your Kimura will be a devastating weapon.

  • Kimura from Guard
  • Hip Over Sweep
  • Hip Over to Kimura / Kimura to Hip over
  • Kimura from Side Mount
  • Arm Bar off the Kimura from Side Mount
  • Head Scissors off the Kimura from Side Mount
  • Inverted Triangle Choke off the Kimura from Side Mount
  • Forearm Slicer from Side Mount
  • North South Kimura
  • Kimura Pass - Kimura Finish
  • Kimura Pass - Arm Lock Finish
  • Kimura Pass - Side Mount Finish
  • Running time 88 minutes

2

Module 2: Introduction to the Kimura Trap

Once you understand the Kimura, you can then learn the concept of the Kimura Trap - using the Kimura as a grip rather than just a submission. This revelation opens up all sorts of possibilities: sweeps, take downs, reversals, guard passes, and submissions. It also cover a unique position called the "TV" Position, which will become one of the best positions to trap your opponent.

  • Setting Up the Kimura Trap Against the Head Inside Single Leg
  • Taking the Back off the Kimura Trap and Finishing with the One Arm Choke
  • Kimura Trap to Arm Bar
  • Kimura Trap to Head Scissors
  • Kimura Trap to Inverted Triangle Choke
  • Kimura Trap to Crucifix
  • Running time 41 minutes

3

Module 3: Advanced Finishes from the TV Position

After mastering the TV position and the basic submission attacks, we will go deeper into this position, with all sorts of submission and transition options.

  • Kimura Trap to Avellan Pin
  • Kimura Trap to Side Mount
  • Kimura Trap Hook Control
  • Kimura Trap Against the Double Leg Far Arm
  • Kimura Trap Against the Double Leg Near Arm
  • Kimura Trap Against the Double Leg Against the fence
  • Kimura Trap Against the Turtle
  • Diving Kimura Trap
  • Running time 40 minutes

4

Module 4: The Kimura Lockdown

The Kimura Lockdown is another unique position that utilizes the Kimura Trap concept. Most commonly used from bottom half guard, it allows you to lockdown your opponent and give you a slew of attacks, from sweeps to submissions.

  • Kimura Lock Down – Kimura finish
  • Kimura Lock Down – Setups
  • Kimura Lock Down – Avellan Squeeze
  • Kimura Lock Down – Grapevine Arm Bar
  • Kimura Lock Down – Inverted Triangle Choke
  • Kimura Lock Down – Rolling Arm Bar
  • Kimura Lock Down – Inverted Head Scissors
  • Kimura Lock Down – Sweeping Arm Bar
  • Running time 40 minutes

5

Module 5: Kimuras from Behind and Escape Prevention

Even when your opponent is behind you the Kimura Trap is still in play. Whether you are standing, on your knees, or even in a complete back mount with hooks in, you can still finish the Kimura Trap! Plus, we plug any holes that your opponent might try to escape the Kimura Trap from, so that once somebody gets caught in the Kimura Trap, there is only one escape – to tap out!

  • Kimura Throw from the back
  • Kimura Slide Out
  • The Prestige
  • Backward Roll Counter
  • Leg Trapping Counter
  • Armless Triangle Choke off the Kimura Trap
  • Kimura Trap to Kimura Lock Down
  • Kimura Trap Combo: Turtle to Crucifix
  • Kimura Trap Combo: Turtle to Back
  • Running time 42 minutes

6

Module 6: Online Updates

The first 5 modules were part of the release of the Kimura Trap System. But over the years, many new techniques were discovered, along with improvements to existing techniques. Rather than make a new product, I just updated the system for free by adding over 7 hours of content!

  • Motorcycle Grip

Bonus

But wait! There's more! :)

The Kimura Trap System was released back in 2012 after 5 years of development. It has been many years since, and the system continues to grow. I have done the work to add these updates for FREE to the course with our online portal. Here are a few of the major updates you will get as a bonus:

Bonus 1
Seminar and Class Videos

As I have been teaching, I have been recording my latest classes and seminars and adding that to the online updates - for free. These videos give you different angles, questions from the students, and more ways to learn from the Kimura Trap System.

Bonus 2
Reverse Kimura Trap Series

There is the Kimura, the Inverted Kimura, and even a Reverse Kimura. These are all taught in the course. But I have also devised a Reverse Kimura Trap, that allows you to execute a variety of sweeps, transitions, and submissions. This unorthodox attack will be a welcome new use to the Kimura Trap for you.

Bonus 3
Standing Arm Lock Series

If you thought Standing Arm Locks were just for Steven Segal, you were wrong. I show you an easy setup that can allow you to break your opponents arm with minimal effort. Not for training use as it is hard to do slow, but if you are a competitor, this will come in handy.

About The Course Creator,
David Avellan

David Avellan has an extensive background in mixed martial arts, having trained in various styles such as Jeet Kune Do, Tae Kwon Do, Shoot Fighting, MMA, Wrestling, Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Kali, and several others since 1995. This is a key factor in his unique style, as he and his brother Marcos were largely self taught, and as a result developed a hybrid style of MMA that included a heavy influence of wrestling, leg locks, neck cranks, and ground and pound back in 1998, when most practitioners thought it heresy to cross train.

His specialty of course is his ground game. Having earned a Bronze Medal at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships in 2009, he is one of the top grapplers to ever come out of the USA. He has defeated the likes of BJJ Legends Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro, Rafael Lovato Jr., Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu, Rener Gracie, and Pablo Popovitch.

As an electrial engineer, he has a unique analytic and procedural approach to teaching, which has made him a sought out coach to many MMA and BJJ greats such as Keenan Cornelius, Phil Davis, Brandon Vera, Jeremy Stephens, DJ Jackson, Alan Belcher, Robert Drysdale, Mahamed Aly, and many more.

As a result, he has a very organized teaching style, with lesson plans and step-by-step instructions that are easily understood by anyone, whether you are a first day white belt, or a 15 year MMA veteran.

Here’s what top Athletes are saying about David Avellan

You have heard great reviews from BJJ and MMA coaches, but what about athletes? Lesson to what a UFC champion, a Judo Olympian, and a OneFC Champion have to say about it:

Dominick "Domin8r" Cruz

Former UFC Featherweight Champion

UFC Commentator

“...you got the Kimura Trap System down, you know a million different ways to keep this person on his back, and at the same time you'll always better your position.”

"The reason I’m promoting this isn’t just because I train with David Avellan, it’s because it works. The thing about this that’s so effective is in MMA there’s always a time where somebody’s elbow is peeking out. The third-round comes out, you’re up against the fence, and the guy goes to hit a switch – the elbow is out there. You got the Kimura Trap series down, you know a million different ways to keep this person on their back and at the same time always better your position. I don’t roll around a lot in a gi, but you need to have some way to control somebody like a grip and the closest thing that would be a Kimura Trap. Check it out."

Rhadi Ferguson

2004 Judo Olympian
4xNational Judo Champion

"I love quality content and great instruction. And if that is something that you look for in a product and instructional series then you’ll love this."

“In the days where many manufacturers of products, courses and systems try to rely on their personality, competition record and alignment with ‘superstars’ I appreciate a product that has quality content, an algorithmic approach to learning and is easy for the beginner to digest, the novice to understand and the expert to appreciate. I tell people all the time that being an Olympian doesn’t mean that I can beat everybody. What it means are a few things: One, I’ve been blessed to run into some tremendous people in my life who are smarter than me and two, I CHOOSE to listen and not refuse to accept good advice and wise counsel. If a product is complete and utter BS, I would tell you. And when it is good, I will also tell you that it is damn good. Well, the Kimura Trap System is damn good! I’ve found it to be extremely helpful with my kids program in teaching them control and how to immobilize their opponents within my position over submission dojo culture. I’ve found it helpful in the proper way to implement the ude-garami and ude-gatami systems to my judo students. And I’ve found it super informative as a life long learner in the grappling arts who is always trying to improve as a teacher and instructor. My days of competition are over. It is now my desire to learn as much as possible so that I can provide the best educational experience for my students and clients. I can tell you right now that David Avellan’s Kimura Trap System has provided me with that opportunity. I love quality content and great instruction. And if that is something that you look for in a product and instructional series then you’ll love this. I like watching things slowly and taking notes on the small points and intricate details and when I see someone who takes the time not only to do the move but to explain why it works and why it won’t work and what to do to recover so that is does work, I know that I’ve invested my money in the right place. I can’t tell you what to buy or what not to buy but I can’t tell you this. I invested in it and I HAVE IT! With that being said, David, thanks for putting out a great product.”

Brandon "the Truth" Vera

OneFC Heavyweight Champion

UFC Veteran

“…it teaches you that the kimura is everywhere…”

"I want to talk you you guys about the Kimura Trap Series...it's amazing. Everyone knows the Kimura and the Kimura Sweep. You should. If you are a white belt with one stripe, you should know a Kimura. What it really opened up my mind and my eyes to is that the Kimura Trap System that coach Avellan shows in these DVDs, it teaches you that the Kimura is everywhere. Whether you are sprawling on a wrestler's shot, where the guys all the way in and you are about to fail to your butt, whether you are in the clinch on a transition...the kimura is everywhere."

The Kimura Trap System – A Complete Guide To Mastery

In the 5 years of studying and experimenting it took to master the Kimura Trap System, I spent at least 1000 hours (and that is being conservative).

Personally, I have paid thousands of dollars in private lessons, seminars, and traveling to different parts of the world to learn specific techniques and strategies. Most of the time, I was not allowed to film, which forces me to use my chicken scratch handwriting on a composition notebook to take notes.

If you told me that I could save myself 5 years of work by investing $497 to have the whole system documented and explained to me with videos, a book, and complete with a mind map - I would have jumped on the opportunity in a heartbeat.

Heck, it took over a year of work just to organize all my systems and make sure that everything was thoroughly explained. Now I turn over my years of experience and knowledge over to you so that you may learn quickly what took me much effort.

But you won't have to pay that much.

Back when I first released the Kimura Trap System in 2012, it was sold for $197. It sold out within 3 days, and I have since sold thousands of copies world wide. This is a really great value, as it costs less than most private lessons with top coaches (I charge $250 an hour), and is cheaper than other DVD courses on the market now that don't have the same level of detail or vast amount of information.

But you won't even have to pay that much!

Since I released the Kimura Trap System, there has been a great surge of Kimura Hunters worldwide. It has also inspired other coaches to teach their versions of the Kimura Trap System. I have seen bits and pieces of some of these courses on social media, and unfortunately, they are missing key parts of the Kimura Trap System, some even making major errors in the technique.

I don't want price being an excuse for someone to buy an inferior product, so I'm pricing the Kimura Trap System to be the best value of any Kimura course available.

Cliff Burke

BJJ White Belt

“I have been training Jiu Jitsu for a few years now and I learned all new techniques that I have never seen before.”

“I just had the Kimura Trap seminar and had my mind blown! I have been training Jiu Jitsu for a few years now and I learned all new techniques that I have never seen before. I can’t wait to go back to class and start busting them out and getting guys to tap. All my training buddies that work with me are going to be upset they weren’t here because I’m going to abuse them for the next few years.”

Rock Starr

BJJ Purple Belt

"I have been to seminars with Marcello Garcia, Jeff Glover, a bunch of them. Not to say they are no good, but this is hands down, the best seminar I have ever been to."

"I just finished the seminar with Master Avellan - Incredible! I have been to numerous seminars in the past 7-8 years with Master Chim. I have been to seminars with Marcello Garcia, Jeff Glover, a bunch of them. Not to say they are no good, but this is hands down, the best seminar I have ever been to."

Jeff Cressman

BJJ Brown Belt

“The Kimura Trap is the new evolution of Jiu Jitsu.”

“I just finished the David Avellan seminar – awesome seminar! The Kimura Trap is the new evolution of Jiu Jitsu. It is awesome and I can’t wait to start using it in competition…Jiu Jitsu is always changing – this is definitely the next step. Anybody who is not doing this is going to be back a whole notch so I highly recommend David Avellan’s Kimura Trap. Check it out!”

Don't Hate the Player - Hate the Game

If you are tired of playing the "points game," forget the score board and join me in a new game - the Submission game.

The Kimura Trap System is the most powerful system in my submission game, and I promise you that it will become one of yours.

  • If the ONLY thing the Kimura Trap System did for you was allow you to counter any single or double shot without putting in years of "sprawl training," would that be worth your time?
  • If the ONLY thing the Kimura Trap System did for you was allow you to finish every Kimura you locked on, would that be worth it for you?
  • If the ONLY thing the Kimura Trap System did for you was give you the confidence to go for the finish every time you roll, would that be something you would want to have?

If you answered yes to any of these statements, you owe it to yourself to get the Kimura Trap System.

But, I leave it up to you which game you wish to play:

  • Points Game
  • Submission Game

As someone who has played both, the submission game is much funner, and far more rewarding. ?
